Overview
Welcome to Science 10! I am very excited to be your teacher this year. During our time together, I hope to get to know you and learn what you bring to our class.
Objectives
During this course you will have the opportunity to practice many skills. Please look more closely at the Curricular Competencies for Science 10 https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/sites/curriculum.gov.bc.ca/files/pdf/10-12/science/en_s_10.pdf for very specific objectives. Throughout this course we will be working on communication and collaboration skills, critical and creative thinking, identifying and taking action in terms of personal and social responsibility, developing questions and making predictions, planning and conducting experiments, analyzing and evaluating data and claims, and learning to apply your understanding to new situations.
Activities
This course will be focused on student doing! Come prepared to work in groups, make observations during demonstrations and labs, demonstrate safe lab procedures, and create models.
Evaluation
Take Away Tasks/Quizzes/In class Activities 30%
Tests/Projects/Labs 70%
Materials
• Binder
• Loose paper or notebook
• Scissors and Glue Stick
• Colour pens/markers
• Online access to course website and fresh grade.
Absences
Students are responsible for any missed worked and or assignments. If you are away for a test there will be a make up test session that you must attend.
